East Bergholt Cricket Club Two Counties First XI v Exning on Sat 27 Aug 2016 at 13:00
East Bergholt Cricket Club Won by 16 runs

Match report Good weather at the Gandish, promised for some good cricket and the fans sure were in for a treat!
The Bergholt skipper in his usual fashion lost the toss, and with a fair amount of green on the wicket Exning fancied a bowl..
Rich and Foster got off to a flyer with plenty of 'hit me' balls on offer, they duly obliged and both looked in good form, then the latter was out LBW, feeling rather dissapointed to miss out on a big score, he was helped on his way with a rather uncalled for send off by the bowler, who had his swag on!
Smyth & Pickford followed shortly after, bringing Gedny & Mass together, both playing some very good shots and looking at ease with the bowling that Exning had to offer.
Straight after drinks, Mass decided to have a go across the line for the first and last time of the day!
Enslin & Philpot came and went, and Ian shortly joined them with a good knock of 71.
Bergholt needed runs to post a respectable total and Boom Town, Dan Last & Kev (who managed to play even with his poorly fingers) took the bowlers apart in the final overs, scoring heavily and on the last ball Kev managed to get his fifty in good fashion.

Mike and Ben opened up the bowling, Ben bowling good lines early on deservedly got a couple of early vital wickets, this brought to the crease T Catley, who was dropped early on and him and Lawson tried to take the game to Bergholt, however Lawsons luck run out, skying up in the air to the waiting and ever so reliable Mike.
Kev Holland was bowling tightly at one end and the on came Foster, who was quick to get over last weeks spell and clean bowled not one, but two of Exnings men.

However Exning kept on fighting and with Catley still there, looked very capable of reaching their target, but if their was one man who could get us out of a hole, it was Pottsy, who frustrated and tied down the batsmen, with the run rate climbing. It was he who managed to force Catley into an error, spooning in the air, for a very relieved skipper to take the catch, with Catley gone for a well earned 97.
From then on Bergholt took control and added a couple more wickets to Pottsys collumn.

All in all a gritty, but well won contest, now insuring Bergholts safety in Division 2. Which we can only grow better as a team to be fighting with the big boys next year!

This left for an interesting night for some, with George Fosters leaving doo, shots at the ready, a very drunken barman, Handbags outside.. Cue good evening.
